Just remember when he is leaning over you if he hurts you, you can give him a swift punch in the bollocks! If you warn him of this beforehand I am sure you will find he is as gentle as a lamb!!
Good luck, you'll be fine.

you'll be fine, just don't think about the size of the drill, I've heard some dentists use huge drills!!! But don't think about that, ok? And dont think about that big needle the push into your gums either. Dont think about how painful it is.
In fact, don't ever go to the dentist again!

Scared of DJ ? Let's just say that after his obscure military background he knows how to make people talk
Oh, and last time I called him a dentist, he knocked my front teeth out (and offered to repair them at cost ). He is a dental *surgeon*
On a more serious note: in my (extensive) experience, it seems that there has been a lot of evolution in dental practice ... pain no longer seems to make a substantial part of the proceedings. Now if only they would shut up while they have their toolkit in your mouth

I had to have a general for the snip Convinced my doctor it would be in the consultants best interests If he hurts me, I'll hurt him. Think those were the words I used.
Cheers Phill

You never know you might not need any treatment and might get away with 'come back in 6 months'. The dentist is probably more worried of you biting their finger. Good luck, Jen

I'm with you on this one !!
Completely scared crapless at the though. The last time I went to the dentist for a checkup I needed 5 fillings
Convinced the dentists to refer me to the 'Family Dental Anaesthetic Clinic' in Ormskirk (Motto: "We'll knock you out for anything" , sounds like DocJock ). Unfortunately I turned up on the wrong day and had to get another referal. Got referred again (involving another checkup where the dentist decided that I actually needed 7 fillings rather than 5 'moer eek's)
Went to the clinic on the right day this time, got duly knocked out, had work done and was coming round on the recovery bed in another room when my then girlfriend said ' Do you know how many fillings you've had ?', I answered through the fog 'erm.....7 ?', she replied 'Actually it was 12 even more eek's !!)
Obviously they we'rent all different teeth in fact i think i had 3 fills in 3 different teeth but bloody hell I was shocked.
Can recommend the place though, very calming atmosphere for us folk who'd rather punch the dentists than let him/her anywhere near us !!
Having said that, I'm never going again until it's time to pull the lot out !!
You'll be fine mate, you know you will, it's just one of those irrational phobiaS that we all have, my missus is scared of touching raw meat, how daft is that ? (And no bedtime jokes please

I don't think it's always an irrational fear. When I was 15 - some time ago - dentistry was akin to butchery, I had 8 fillings over two days without anaesthetic having never had a problem in the past. I kept away from the chair for the following eight years.
Since starting again I've felt no pain even having a wisdom tooth ripped out and have to say that I find the experience almost fun. Must be the cocaine derivative.
