Post How much excercise do you get / how fit are you?

just wondering what the general average is amongst scoobynetters

5 yrs ago I used to travel most weeks around Europe building TV studios, drinking 4-5 pints nightly, eating crappy food and getting zero excercise, when I realised I had trouble swimming just one length of a hotel pool, i figured enough was enough. All changed now.

So, how fit are you?

bugger, thought I was in Non Scooby Related....maybe my poll should have read 'how much wine have you drunk tonight...?'

Can a mod move this?

3 hrs Kyokushinkai Karate
1.5 hours 5 a-side footy
3 hrs gym (weights only).

7.5 hrs/week.

Didn't think that warrants 'freak' rating though, I am sure there are many peeps that do a lot more exercise than this??

I do 3-5 hrs of Karate a week, and am completelty drained after that, so figured you've gotta be seriously committed to do anymore. Granted maybe 'freak' rating isnt quite the correct term.

I've recently given up my 'low weight-high reps' regime with pint glasses down the pub, and started running to loose a few pounds.

Plus beating old john thomas a few time a day is sure to burn a few calories too

Have moved this back to the right area

Currently doing 30 mins+ a day and have been for the last couple of months. Lost a stone in weight not that I was overweight to start with. Given up beer on a daily basis & bought a scoob with the savings

I find it hard to get the time to do more exercise tbh with my lifestyle or workstyle

Wink

- Exercise the mutt 4 mornings out of 7 = 2.5 miles of vigorous walking
- Easy jog 3 days a week = 9 miles of jogging
- Out with the lads once a week on the mountain bike = anywhere between 15 and 35 miles
- Mending fences, moving hay and other odds and sods (lifting and dumping) = a few thousand calories a week

Not at all freakish; dependent on work demands the above goes out of the window.

Bottom line - output slighty exceeds input so I'm not a fat ****** but it's a battle.

Cheers
Kav

Since my walking is severely restricted, the only real exercise I get is going fishing either in the river or in my little boat at sea, or riding my classic motor bike.

we have to do an hour each day at work (I often do an hour and a half) and I am trying to find a decent basketball team so I can get back in to it. I haven't played or trained now for around 7 years and have managed to put on about 1 1/2 stone. Should be easily resolved though.
I s'pose I really should use one of the many nice bikes I have in the garage but I dont like to get them dirty

Couple of hrs in the gym 3 times a week. Followed with a a bvit of time in the old sauna and stream rooms. Actually saves me money as i can walk to the gym and 12 nites a week are spent in the gym for only £34 a month (if i weren't htere i'd be down the pub, or usinmg up gallons of petrol)

I cycle a minimum of 2x15 miles per week for fun (but really go for it) and do at least 1x3 mile run a week also for fun
I still have a beer belly though . I think thats something to do with the beer I consume

Don't go by your BMI mate, just because someone has put a chart together means that you aren't fit. judge the size of your clothes and how you feel.

Based on my height (174cm) my BMI states that I should weight about 75kg, but the Dr said that BMI was not always the case, she said that according to my built it should be more close to 85kg.

Cycle to work & back mon-fri 7 mile round trip 40 mins per day
90 min hockey training tues
70 min hockey game on sat
70 min hours hockey game on sun

So that's just over 7 hours a week, hardly freaky but certainly enough to keep fit. Fitness 'freaks' must do at least 10 hours a week I'd have thought.

Ive posted less then 1 hour on the poll:

Tuesday: 2 hour training Thai Boxing
Thursday: 2 hour Football training
Sunday: 90mins football match

Reason Ive posted less then 1 hour on the poll is that im a goalkeeper at football, so I stand about for long periods not doing anything, and Thai boxing I usually just take a beating from the blokes who have been doing it for 20 years, and curling up into a ball is not excercise!

I do about 5-10 hours formal training a week plus another 5-8 hours of my own strength work a week. Basically exercise almost every day - except Sundays (day of rest and all that).

To add, I do smoke atleast a pack of ciggarettes a day but don't drink much... the smoking just seems to mean I have to breath that bit harder but doesn't seem to impact that much...
