Thumbs up Just Bought My Tax Disc Online

Wow! That was easy peasy

I had forgotten until 5 minutes ago, then with a shock realised it would run out today

Grabbed registration document (or V11 reminder), loaded up the site ( http://www.direct.gov.uk/taxdisc ), followed the simple prompts and hey presto - one tax disc on it's way to me

Should arrive within 5 days apparently. I daresay I will be committing an offence of failure to display over this time but I can live with that knowing that I'm acutally taxed so won't be getting the auto-fine...

As I said, easy peasy and a lot quicker, simpler and quite frankly more pleasant than trundling into my local Post Office and queuing up along with all the other people after 1x 2nd class stamp

Just thought I would share - try it next time yours is due

It's actually astonishing, a govt. IT system that interfaces with the public and works!

So that's ONE good thing NL have done, still 3 millions others that they haven't

Well statistically it had to happen at some point, didn't it?

(I'm thinking monkey / typewriter / Shakespeare kind of thing here).

Fair play.

If it means I don't have to line up behind you and your smelly colostomy bag in the post office, then I'm for it.

You can only say stuff like that for another 30 odd minutes before you are being ageist and breaking the law

As its been paid for don't think the police will be too bothered that its not being displayed. They will just check the database, if you are spotted.

It is far less hassle, just begs the question why has it taken so long for the systems to be put in place?!

It's good to be able to buy tax disc on line.
When I bought mine on line, I had left it too late. I just went on line and bought my road tax. I knew that it wil take at least two days to come to me( it says on their website to allow 3-5 working days, I think ). So, I phoned them up. They told me to drive around with the email conformation with my tax disc number sent to me. I should be ok. I don't know if it legally works. It worked for me
I received my tax disc in next two days, anyway
