A two-year-old this time.

How many more have to be maimed and die before the ego cripples have these symbols of their impotency banned for good?

Dont mean to laugh at such a bad story but
wtf was he thinking, I told it to go away Dont really know the whole story on this one to pin point any blame at the minute but its obvious ANY dog with the power and size of a Rottie is potentiolly dangerous and therefore should be kept on a very tight leash in public. So going off that the owner of the dog should have had more control over the animal but thats all I'll say at the minute, least the little lad is alive and well
"I approached the dog and told it to go away but it didn't back off and it started coming towards me barking, so I then hit the dog over the head with a hammer.

theres nothing wrong with rotties, a bloody poodle could tear a kid to pieces!!!!!!!!!!! the problem is how they are brought up/trained and looked after, not the dog breed!

Dogs bite kids every day but since the horrific death of the child at the weekend at the the hands of a rottweiler the media have become "dogmatic".
The media would have us believe that since the introduction of the DDA, not one dog of ANY breed has ever mauled a human being... Until this weekend...When aliens took over the minds of rottweilers and made them all blood thirsty mentalists
There are tens of thousands of responsible rottweiler owners who will be sh1tting themselves now because of the public furor that the likes of our illustrious thread starter and the media are generating.
Last time when staffys, pit bulls and alsations were the target, the splendid media representation of the breed led to innocent owners having abuse shouted at them and being threatened.
I suppose as a few humans kill people, WE should all be neutered too?

The two dogs which attacked the child last week were kept as guard dogs.

.............but it is true to say that people who own dogs like those in question and strut around with them as part of their 'hardman' pose are complete d1ckheads who probably shouldn't have them.

Next Top Gear should feature a fully recovered Richard Hammond attempting to break the land speed record on a Rottie by whacking its nads with a wooden spoon.
THe Rottweilers and Top Gear can be banned in the resultant media/PC frenzy.

all this "it could be any dog" stuff is not really true is it.
firstly some dogs ARE more likley to bite than others...to say thats not true shows a lack of common sense.
and
some dogs do more damage when they do bite.
so a dog not likley to bite and not able to do much damage if it does is less risk than one that may well bite and weighs 10 stone.

Fact is, over the past year there have been numerous dog attacks, some being done by large "dangerous " dogs.
However nearly all of them have either been ignored by the media or given a small report that is often ignored.
...Until a decent head line pops up "baby killed by dogs". And Bingo, every reporter is seraching every single recent dog mauling case that is happening on a daily basis. Statistics dicate that out of the thousand of people mauled by dogs every year (re: Mostly postmen ) Some will be children, and some will be mauled by a Rotty (it's not as if they are a rare breed )
And there you go, an immdediate media bandwagon.

You cant really blame the press, as healdines go,
'ROTTWIELERS EAT BABY'
is pretty emotive, the facts are they did kill a six month old child, granted any dog could do it, it it was Labs they would get the same treatment but with a 'your faithful family friend could be a murderer' slant, Rotties just get a 'see, we told you they are evil slant'.
Anyway, we narrowly avoided
'RICHARD HAMMOND KILLED BY VAMPIRE'

Great headline:
'A ROTTWIELER ATE MY HAMPSTER'
I'm not sure about the assumption that people invariably buy Rotties for an ego boost though; although some clearly do!
IME Most of the time, you don't so much choose a dog as much as the dog chooses you!
