I'd get a plasma mate.

Sent my 42" Toshiba LCD back to retailer and getting the same size Plasma, picture is 300% better.

LCD's are still a good few years away from picture excellence

Just my opinion

Most plasmas last for over 50,000 hours now mate. That's a hell of a long time when you break it down. If it was on for 10 hours a day, every day, thats about 14 years..

Please don't believe the rubbish you hear about plasmas. They will last a lot longer than you will ever need it to. The technology will be the thing that forces you to change it not the lifespan of the screen.

The picture is much much better than LCD. If you look at the two side by side, with the same source, then I guarantee you will buy the plasma.

Take a look at www.avforums.com if you need more information or to read the proper debates which are taking place, not scaremongering.

Please spend wisely!

I have that exact TV and while it can highlight poor quality TV transmission, for example watching the World Cup on the BBC looked great (not in HD) but looked pretty awful on ITV. Otherwise it looks great in either Hi-Def or Pleb-Def.
