ipod question...
Just picked up a 3rd gen ipod today, and after finding its obscure charging method, i,m now about to start ipodding.
well i though i was...
do i need itunes s/w to transfer stuff over??? and how do i play my own stugg, or does it all have to be converted to itunes format?
ive heard there are a few hacks around, that allow the use of non itunes front end / software, is this true? and if so how do i get / use it

Typically you do need to use iTunes, though there are other apps out there (guessing you're PC based?) such as anapod explorer.
As for converting music, there isn't an iTunes/iPod format as such, it supports MP3, AAC (also known as m4a), Protected AAC (files downloaded from iTunes Store), MP3 VBR, Apple Lossless, AIFF and WAV.
If your music is in WMV format then yes, you will need to convert it for iTunes/iPod to play it. DBPowerAmp Music Convertor will allow you to do just that.
