Ditto CATS, (plural), and any sort of dog.

Lock your wife in the house with all mice, after a few hours she will do anything you ask her, just to save her from the mice

a tip on mouse traps......don't use the old cliche of cheese etc. A small chunk of chocolate, or chocolate button etc works everytime.
Whenever we've had mice in the house, one night of the chocolate button treatment sorts it......seriously

What cheese do you intend to use in the trap? . . . . . I swear cheese works!

I always use humane traps and they always work. Dunno what you did wrong. DBW...
Bait with Kit-Kat or Twix.
One thing, though. Someone suggested a glass coffee jar propped up on some books at about 45 degrees and with some bait inside. Theory is that mouse goes for bait and makes the jar stand up. You pop the lid on in the morning and take it far, far away.
It does't work - mouse had the Twix and left me a pile of mouse turd as a swap. Little sod.
Humane trap set and I heard it go off before I'd even got upstairs. One short trip in the car and the mouse was rehomed...

They do work sometimes. Although the mouse does occasionally just steal the chocolate and run away.
One I caught...

OK: update.
Three of the traps are as I left them. The fourth, behind a makeshift barrier in our bedroom, (built so wifey can't see the trap), was empty.
Yep, the mouse had had the bait, and had it away on it's toes.
And just to add insult to injury, when I picked up the trap, it went off!
Right...........where's those toffees the wife had? Let's see it remove one of THOSE off a trap without paying!
Crapola! She's scoffed the lot, the greedy woman! Now I'll have to buy ONE toffee from Woolies pick and mix!
Alcazar
BTW: boxst, why is YOUR mouse wet?

MMMMMMM. Mouse problems eh? The last time i had a mouse, the cat got and took it under my bed. The thing was half dead, so i picked it up and chucked it out the window
Honestly, try and borrow a cat. They will get rid of the mouse

You said that you was the killer of your "last" and "the one before" mouse! Your cat should drive the bus and, you should be home, kiling all the mice.

Cue: large number of cat-lover posts..........
Been to Woolies and bought ONE Devon toffee. The lass on the pay desk was itching to ask......
Trap now loaded, and we await developments. Trouble is the greedy b*stard mouse ate about an inch of Twix last night, so is probably replete, and dreaming his mousey dreams somewhere now

They'll be heading indoors shortly for winter, so you need to try find where they are getting in.
My little friends were entering via the drain pipe behind the kitchen unit kick boards. Stuffed the gaps around the pipes with plastic bags and then finished the job off with a tub of tile grout (only stuff around at the time). Not seen a mouse dropping since.
