Mosquito larvae in 1/2 barrel water feature... get a fish to eat them?
On the subject of fish... A cheeky question to you fishy enthusiasts
I've got a small 1/2 barrel type water feature waterfall thingy from B&Q in the garden - seems to get lots of mosquito lavae in it... have emptied it out & cleaned it a few times but it just keeps happening
Could I put a fish in to eat them or is it not really fair on the fish to go in such a small environment? is there something else i can do to keep the mozzies at bay?
advice appreciated
Cheers
Mick

gold fish will quite happly live out doors in an egg cup if you feed them lol
but seriously, what the hell is in the barrel, we dont have mozies in this country.
and it sounds like you need trout or salmon, as i dont think gold fish would touch them, just empty the barrel from time to time or leave em be

Any coarse fisherman will tell you they are mosquito larvae. commonly known as bloodworm (or jokers if they are ickle) and pretty much all uk freshwater fish are partial to them.
As gold fish et al are members of the carp family pretty certain they would love them.

Thought bloodwormand joker were midge larvae.
Might be a bad idea sticking a fish in mosquito infested water.
It'll be stagnant and the fish will probably die.
Stick a load of bleach in, failing that, nuke the site from orbit, it's the only way to be sure
