How do people con you in paypal?
Got a few items for sale on ebay.
One person wants to pay my asking price early and end the auction. They've put a bid on so I can't choose buy it now.
I'm going to ask them to PP the money to my account and once confirmed by paypal the money is there I will end the auction and ship the item out.
Is there anyway the person could take the money back but also keep the item?
It will go via special delivery so I'll have proof with paypal if theres a problem.
Only other thing I could think of to do is ask them to pay via cheque and I'll send it once its cleared.

They can have a dodgy credit card setup on the paypal account and you find out a month later when the transaction is reversed, you lose the item and the cash. A cheque would not be my first choice either, I would choose a bank draft or bank transfer, and make sure you check whether the draft is real by phoning the issueing bank.

If not through ebay then you will lose that protection
Its quite easy to rip people off through Paypal, all you need to do is pay for an item, wait a bit (once you have the goods) then lodge a complaint, paypal will find in your favour, and refund your money and you get to keep the goods
I havent done this, but had it done to me, and there is NOTHING you can do about it, except live and learn, lose your goods AND your money

Bankers draft is also equally worthles I'm afraid. Even after it has 'cleared' the bank can still recover (steal) the funds from your account.

Isn't it against the rules to negotiate a deal outside of the auction?
I always tell them sorry but I am letting the auction run its course... at least you know the winning bidder has some respect for the auction process.
If the guy who has contacted you is happy to rip off ebay and the other bidders on your auction then maybe he would be happy to rip you off too?

The only sure fire way of getting money is by CHAPS and waiting until you get it credited or by taking cash from the buyer.

Postal order, are they safe these days? Ok they have to pay a poundage when buying them but it may be another option,a lthough quite an old solution to these probelms?
Personaly thought I would just let it run its course maybe someone else will jump in anyway, their is no surity with Ebay, if their feedback is good & their recent transactions check out you could be ok failing that let them pick it up and pay cash if thats an option.
