They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,

We will remember them.

Agree with above - Is there a silence planned today?

Not heard a bean if there is?

Watch the "path to 9/11" last night on BBC. Very interesting. P2 is on tonight at 8:30pm.

four moments of silence will be held at 13.46, 14.03, 14.59 and 15.29 BST, the times when jetliners struck each of the twin towers, and when each tower fell.

I think the 4 moments of silence are just being held at the WTC ceremony in NYC. According to the BBC the one the UK is observing is the first one at 13:46 BST, not sure if the other 3 are being officially observed here.

Very sad day, nobody should forget what happened - particularly the liberal types who seem quite happy to forgive and forget no matter what.

Can still remember where I was and what I was doing when the first plane hit... It was an absolute tragedy and it never gets easier looking back over the events and coverage of 9/11.

Cheers,
Grant

Thank you, was a bit confused so posted all up, but yes after reading the bbc website again I would agree that the official moment of remembrance will be held @ 13:46 BST

Funny how they are only remembering the people from the Towers & the Pentagon got a very very brief mention on the radio this morning,

So much for the people on Flight 93

no rememberance service for them then ? and certainly no mention of them on the radio

There was a thread last week about 9/11 and whether there would be a minutes silence etc, it was posted in NSR

Same, its one of those events that just sticks in your mind... almost like a detailed pic of where and what you were doing when you heard what was then perceived to be unbelievable news.

Respect too all involved in this awful attack and my thoughts are with you.

I was in Gran Canaria, sat on my balcony in the hotel with a beer in hand - I thought it was some kind of sick joke when my mate called me in to watch the TV

Couldn't believe what had happened, still cant

Laden needs to be caught!

I see that the famous documentary by the Naudet brothers wasn't aired by some broadcasters in the US. Was it because of the horror of hearing jumpers hitting the ground ? Nope, it was because the firemen were swearing...

Went and had a look at Ground Zero a couple of years ago, really strange atmosphere there and hard to take in what happened. I thought it was a bit off that there were street traders selling postcards, plates and the like as souvenirs with images of the aeroplanes hitting the towers. Its strange when you look off Brooklyn Bridge in that direction and the towers that you have seen on all the films etc... are gone, lets hope they build something bigger and better in memory of all those that lost their lives.

They are building something now Ayde, I posted the link last week on the 9/11 thread in NSR

Well I got to spend the minutes silence sitting in the departure lounge at Heathrow, about to fly out to Miami
Glad that flight's over !

I was sitting in departures at JFK, New York on Sept 11, 2002 watching the re-run on the airport screens !
