Creatine, is it any good?
Just started training doing a fair bit of cardio, and a selection of weights as well.
A guy in work who has trained for years and has tried and still continues to use many products has sudgested this to me.
Has anyone got any expirience with it, good or bad?
Cheers

Hi, creatine helps the muscles regenerate. Basically muscle build is not from individual fibres getting bigger but from new muscle fibres and hence cells being generated. Creatine helps in this growth.
If you follow the recommended dosage you will notice an improvement, however if you go bonkers on it, then it can cause some liver damage, but dont let that put you off.

I recommend taking half dose for first week to test tolerance, then 6 weeks on recommended dose and then anything from 1-3 weeks free of creatine and repeat cycles.
For every three weeks training, it takes only one week to regress to previous level

depends which you use, its called the loading period if you use the powder, you can get more powerful stuff in tablet form from www.myprotein.co.uk very good site and i have used them and the CEE tablets are good imo.

When I started gym, I went to the gym for 8 weeks before I started creatine, as it gives you power and endurance and if you take it from day one what happens is you'll work hard and heavy and before you know it you've injured yourself. If I was you I would go to gym at least for 6 weeks and work on my muscles, get them in shape, get to know your maximum and then start on creatine and take it nice and slow.
also buy creatine in liquid form they are the best as it goes straight in to your blood circulation you can get them from thesupplementstore.com or .co.uk whichever one it is

get wired into it mate, there are a few people in my gym who get nothing from it at all despite using it correctly but they are few and far between, the vast majority of users really notice and feel the difference.
Remember though to drink lots of water when on creatine cos thats what it does to help increase muscle size, ie, retain more water in the muscle tissue

www.sports-nutrition.co.uk
Cheapest guys in the country, made by the same people who make the reflex products. For a deal on the unflavoured whey put in muscletalk into the coupon code and get 2.27kg of whey for £11.

Anyone tried the creatine capsules?
I've been training consistently (minimum 3 times per week) for about 1year now and i'm thinking about taking creatine, i've got "body fortress" tablets from H&B and they say take 3 before and 3 after exercise, nothing about the loading period etc etc....
Any experience of them?

Some people do use it & get good results, but my personal preference is not to

A common symptom, especially after alcohol.
To prevent/reduce - drink lots of water, and try to cycle your intake. You'll benefit more if you do it four weeks on, four weeks off for example.
To answer the question - yes it works, definitely. The best alternative to steroids.

Yes, I have used it and like it, take the drops from GNC, which you only take just before training, rather than the drinks which you need to take everyday..... Rocket fuel!

Yes i tried Maximuscle Creatamax capsules and they were very good was also taking Promax capsules as well at the same time,Creatamax 300 from them is also very good although doesnt taste the best. For weightlifters/bodybuilders there is a "loading phase" usually the first 4-5 days then use daily, for endurance trainers no loading just take daily.I'am goin to try there Creatamax Extreme.
You will never get the same results from supplements as you will from steroids.
Good thing about the capsules is you dont taste the stuff as it doesn't disolve the best.
Also watch out for the before mentioned lower back pain as it does occur on creatine, although they reckon that 21g daily for 2 years showed no side effects in the user it was tested on but remember this differs from user to user.

Basic Creatine Monohydrate is best taken with something like grape juice or Apple juice around half an hour before training.
After training take it within 90 mins as your receptors will be open, this is what we in the business call the window of opportunity and at least 50%
of your protein intake should be made around this time also if possible.
The grape/apple juice creates an insulin spike and you will be more receptive
to uptake.
One thing to remember though, your water intake need to be around 4 litres
a day when on creatine, if not you may cause kidney stress.
around 70% of your muscle is water and creatine basically draws water into
the muscle, that's why you seem to loose the gains after coming off, it's all
water retention !!!
If you need anymore advice, I'll be glad to help
