Tough Guy (28th January 2007)
Has anyone entered this before? If so, what was it like? The website provides lots of information, but some first hand experience wouldn't go a miss.
Reason for asking is that I've been asked if I'd have a go at it, but I really would like to know what I'm letting myself in for if I agree.

It looks like a superb laugh that! If I didnt have a BMI of 28 I would have a stab at that myself... Would be a good day out but would need a week off work to recover me thinks
If you do go for it good luck, post your experiences and I might join you next July

As for your BMI, I'm not sure it means much, if anything at all, as IIRC, it can't differentiate between muscle and fat. A poster on my gym wall explained what a load of tosh it was.

Yeah it seems the cold water and the distance between obstacles are the only things that make me stop and think... It looks really quite busy too, but I'd be right at the back behind the grannies so i'd be OK...
Im going to send the link to the lads and see how many are up for it...

i did it about 10 years ago - in 2ft of snow...wading through streams chest deep with 3" of ice on top- considered the worse weather they had ever had at the time.
fcukin stupid race, never went back.
should add...its not that hard on your fitness, i did it with little distance training.....its just boring/cold (in winter) - i saw no one suffer exhaustion but about 30% didnt make it because they froze to death. (obviously if you go charging off like a loon it will do yo in, we just jogged it and found it cold but not hard.....did a proper half marathon few weeks later and that was FAR harder on the cardio)

Qwerty,
The Rat Races are great fun although the rope work puts me off a bit. Questars and Ace races are great fun.
ChrisB and myself have competed in a couple of the Questars races with some "reasonable" scores
The best fun though is if you can get into a team doing one of the bigger adventure races that lasts for days. It looks like I've got my wish as I've been asked to manage a team again in next years Microsoft UK Challenge which is a 4 day race.
