car has a rear ender - 1yr old car - spare wheel well is split as part of it - should the well be replaced or some sort of repair attempted and covered in sealent
#6
Hi i work in an insurance approved body shop. The car should be repaired to original pre accident condition. If there was no sealer there befor the accident there should be no sealer there now.
If the body shop gets their **** in their hands and says its a good repair get the insurance company involved or ask to speak to the enginner from insurance who dealt with the car.
hope this helps, if you want to know any more info just PM me.
PS should have had a new boot floor and not a repair if the panel was split

thats is what I thought but they have just gone over it
you can see the repair here
there was a two inch rip in the floor at that point - not sure what the repair is underneath ?

It should of been welded up, then the top of the weld sanded down and filled if it needed it to the original finish
hth
PS it looks like you can see hammer marks just above the thick bit of sealer

thats what I though a piece put in and made right - mind you still not accepted the repair as the panel fit is crap - the right hand side rear wing sits proud of the bumper by at least 5cm, plus a host of other gaps. And yes it was a large insurance approved body shop

with out being too picky, did they prime the inside of that back panel as it looks dark as if the electrocoat is showing through. What car is it? year? etc and what insurance company? If you don't mind me asking

That looks a friggin MESS!.. if i was given a car back (let alone a 1 year old car!) with the boot floor bodged rather than completely replaced and it looked ANYWHERE NEAR as bad as that i would have just laughed at the handover and asked where the cameras and lisa riley was.......
i am sorry but I could have made that look better with some halfords filler and a kitchen knife!
i hope you return this and tell em to fark off.....

I agree it does not look primed at all - 2005 car audi a4 - zurich insurance
and that aint the worst of it !!!!!!!!
put a complaint in about the bodyshop with the insurance and awaiting a insurance assessor to come and assess the repairs before I give it them back - I want to make sure it is right - it is only a leased company car but they should not be allowed to do this.
someone else looked at it underneath and said it has not been sealed in all the right places either !
fark off aint the words I am using - not until I meet the bodyshop manager in person !

I would certainly check to make sure that the back panel is primed and i'd ask to have the sealer took off while you are there or in front of the assesor. I'd bet my left nut its still split.
Bonus in bodyshops are to blame, you are allocated so many hours to do the job by the insurance company. ie if I get 10 hours to paint a car and I do it in 6 I make 4 hours bonus. Thats 4 hours wages again on my salary. And the hours from insurance are getting worse and worse and worse.
This leads to jobs being abused and rushed (see pic above) I have seen a lot worse than that roll out the shutter doors at some bodyshops

yea I wonder how many people do not look for or see this
the whole rear of the car is out of line - I am sure the rear panel is not fitted right
the pain is that they had it 4 weeks and I had a lesser car for the duration - now I have to run around and get some one to confirm it is a crap job and then I have to go through the hassle of have another crap car because they did not do the job right t055er5

in all fairness given the age of the car and the damage occured that should of had a new rear panel and finished to a original standard, that sort of jobs fine on a 10 year old escort but no fooking way on a car like that
100% pis s poor job there, even if he welded the split and filled and painted to look standard prob would of been semi acceptable but thats pure crap m8, if i look into a boot floor etc on a car when buying it and saw that id be wanting few hundred discount on buying price to pay to have it corrected
and i agree to the above i bet the splits still there too

it looks like it has had a part rear panel that has not been fitted properley. The list of other faults are growing daily - even down to not been sealed underneath and there is not one gap that is even on the rear.
We will see on monday as I will ask the assessor once we agree that is not acceptable to scrape and see if the spilt is still there.
I am fuming about the, but the insurance so far is being A1 it is just the bodyshop that are sh!te. And they did not want to come and sort it out, just said return it and we will sort it out - no customer service at all
New guessing game until the assessor confirms the bodge
Try and guess the bodyshop
3 letters and have shops is 3 towns in the middle of the country
