I have done a search...........Satnav?????
After all my searching, i'm still totally confused. There are loads of posts which pipe on about the Garmin units, then loads which pipe on about the Tomtom and thrown into the mix are posts about Navman. Unfortunately, some of these posts date back 12 months or so. Whats the latest feeling?
I'm in the market for a unit upto £200. No whistles and bells are required
I'm leaning towards the Tomtom 1 for reasons unknown to myself , but i'm yet to see an opinion on it. On the other hand Halfrauds are selling the Navman 520 for £140.
Dammit - guidance please
Ps - i use a big *** paper map - this is for my Lass

I posted a while back to say that Garmin discontinued their GPSMAP 60CS. It is a handheld unit but you can also get the road maps for it, and the OS maps as well. The one thing it will not do is the spoken directions but it can do all the other in car stuff plus all the hand held stuff as well.
Currently you can get it for £200 if you shop around, though maps are extra on top of that. The full price is nearer £500ish so that is a considerable saving for a top of the range unit. The unit that replaces it is the same except for an SD card slot so it is a lot of satnav for £200. Probably not what you had in mind but another option for you if you'd like something you can use handheld and for use when walking, fishing, boating or whatever.

I have a Navman PIN 300 PDA system or (Mitac Mio 168) and a Navman iCN630 and would not exchange either of them for anything. Both Running Navman V3 app software and navman v14 maps. I have use both my navman devices round europe with no problems whatsoever. obviously you get the odd hiccup but I have never not arrived at my destination.
However I have just bought a Kenwood TV for the car and it comes with Garmin GPS satnav but I have not used it yet as it is not installed in the car just yet.

Tom Tom 910. Fantastic piece of kit. Gets me around Europe all the time, so far never been unable to find an address. It is extremely simple to use too, don't even need instructions really. Not that cheap, but well worth it.

I'm assuming the Navman 530 is the updated version of the 520 hence the cheap price in Halfrauds?
Sounds good Hedgehog, but possibly not the way forward for me

I've noticed the cheap price on the Navman 520. Its also being supplied with Traffic master aswell.
The only difference I can see between the 520 and others is that it has a 4Gb hard drive instead of data stored on a memory card.
There might be a reliabilty issue, hence the low price to clear stock!

where've you seen the Navman for £140 ?? Halfords are seling it at £169.99
I've wondered the same thing about satnav since my old tomtom / pda gave up the ghost.
Think though I'm gonna wait til satnav becomes available for my Nokia, do it that way then.
Good luck & make sure you post what you bought !!
