"Mr Bettison, chairman of the LGA's environment board, said charging to collect non-recyclable rubbish would give people " a real carrot to recycle".
Sounds more like a stick to me .
I can just see neighbours in covert operations to put rubbish into other people's bins .

But have none of you read in the papers over the weekend?
90% of all the stuff we put out to be recycled ended up in North African landfill sites, but the government still said they met their targets for this years recycling.
So which is it, have they met their targets or do we need computerisedx bins to charge us for our rubbish. So we pay council tax for the privelige of having our bins emptied, then we have to pay the council to come and empty our bins. Sounds fair to me
I can see a few people refusing to pay their council tax if this idea gets thru the commons. Me for one. Or at least part of it.

We are also not allowed to but cardboard, paper, metal, glass or tetra packs in the bins they must go to th recycling centre along with the 7 grades of household plastic and anything else recyclable. you are also not allowed to put food in the bin that has to go in a special bio bin that is a different colour to the normal bins.
Curtain twitching and reporting your neighbours is commonplace here and is expected. I have had my rubbish returned to me at least twice by our housemeister going through the bins for contraband. I however stuck it straight back in the bin.
Have fun with your new recycling rules you are going to love it

As someone said, it will end up tossed along the sides of the roads. Whoever thought up this idea needs time out in the dunces corner.
