Default Qatar airways questions.....

Knowing that Scoobynet has more than it's fair share of divers.......

Can anyone help answer these questions?
We are going on holiday to Maldives next week for our honeymoon, we are both PADI AOW and hope to log quite a few dives during the 2 weeks.
We are flying business class with Qatar Airways, but we can't find any info on 2 things:-

1. What if any extra weight limit is allowed for presentation of PADI dive card? (standard business allowance is 30KG).

2. Does Qatar have a business lounge at Heathrow Terminal 3?

Also has anyone travelled recently on this route (Heathrow to Doha) since the new terrorist rules came in? Are regs allowed on as handbaggage?

If Qatar doesn't have a business lounge at Heathrow, they will have an alliance that will allow you to use other lounges.

Not sure about weight issues, but as far as I am aware, only flights to USA have to EXTRA STRICT hand baggage controls presently. I believe you can't take drinks, lighters, pastes etc through customs, but you can buy these items once you are through to duty free (unless you are travelling to the US)

Was at Heathrow on Thursday and the dimensions of hand baggage are being taken very seriously.

might be calling Qatar Airways in advance, as they may give you more allowance for the Scuba kit assuming you have prewarned them, rather than just bowling up and trying it.

try posting a note on http://www.scubaboard.com/ someone else may have already gone through it and maybe able to help.

Maldives, my next dive spot early next year, bit more expensive to get to from down here, not to much envy

Hi chap.

Just got back from Doha, was working there last week.

I flew in from Dubai so no dramas. Several of the crew flew in from the UK, one from Manchester and two from Heathrow.
Std hand luggage rules in place last week. one bag, no sharps or fluids or such.

The UAE are very hot on security (no suprises there then) You will have all your luggage (X-ray) and body (metal detector) scanned before you can check in and again, luggage and body once you have checked in - before you go down to the gate.
