Default Is swearing in front of children acceptable these days

Is swearing in front of children acceptable these days?

I mean its far more acceptable and more widely used on TV, and more and more people seem to swear at the slightest things these days

But is it accpetable and good to swear in front of young children so that they learn the words and start using them themselves?

It is something i try and avoid doing, but I know some that don't and think it is perfectly normal to talk with almost every other word a swear word in any conversation

When I was young I was always taught it was bad to swear, and we would have our mouths washed out with soap if ever caught swearing

In all the years growing up I dont think I have ever heard my parents swear, with the odd exception of **** or bloody hell etc etc, even now some 30 odd years later, you dont hear them swear, nor most people their age

I think if your a half decent parent, you'd hate it if your kids swore, my lill uns 6 and she hasnt yet, im waiting for the day to come which it surely will.

However, there are a lot of scummy people out there who dont care if they do swear in front of their kids...you can see from looking at their parents there going to be the "new" lawless youth of today in 10 years time.

NO.

The lower down the social scale, the more likely they are to swear in front of kids IMO.

If you can't find a suitable "proper" word then don't say it.
Sorry, having a bad afternoon.
But I abhore people who use bad language in front of children, no excuse at all.

No, It's not acceptable.

Children should be sheltered from it whilst at home, they'll get to hear enough of it once at school, for gods sake lets protect their innocence untill at least
then.

Im talking about words such as ****, tw@t, bollox, ******, ****, b@stard,

I dont agree with it, and think it is appalling that children of 5-6 years old know them, and hear them and then come out with them themselves, knowing that they are swear words and still use them on occasion

Hello

I don't swear in general, and am not very happy with people who do in front of my children.

Try not to although the nipper is only 2 months old. Although when I am behind the wheel of a car I tend to develop tourettes syndrome and involuntary scream blue murder at other road users.

Never sworn in front of my 2 little ones. Even words like stupid and bum have been replaced with silly and bottom.

Not very nice seeing my friends kid at 5 saying **** and bloodyhell all over the place

It is a matter of standards of decency. Ask yourself whether you like to hear a young child swearing. Nothing to do with modern society as to whether it is acceptable. What is in itself wrong don't make a right.

I personally think it is dreadful to hear that sort of thing.
