Compartmentalisation - calculated or innate?
Why do we like to compartmentalise ourselves? Why do we like to divide ourselves into countries, into races, into religions? Why do we then fight to the death to maintain the compartments we have created for ourselves?
Is it innate? Is it programmed into us to protect our way of life, our genetics and our borders?
Or is it calculated? And if so, for what reason?
I believe it is innate. It is something that cannot be overcome. If one race were to exterminate all the others and populate the entire world then that race would then start to compartmentalise, to subdivide.
Idealists who think we can all just get along are wrong, they have proved themselves wrong by creating for themselves yet another compartment, yet another set of borders over which battles will be fought.
Embrace your humanity and fight for your compartment, it's what makes us who we are!

Commonly accepted to be innate.
Just do a Google search on "Social Identity Theory"
Experiments have frequently shown you can cause hostility and group defensiveness based on arbitrary, non-existent or perceived differences.
