Took me a few days to get used to it. Not vastly different to my previous 6230, but a few changes which required setting up.
Once you do a few things to it (set up menus/shortcuts/keys) and some other things to prolong the battery (turn OFF the constant wifi search , constant GPRS connection and some other battery eating stuff) it is great. If you change none of the settings, battery will last less than 24 hrs from fully charged to empty- if you change them as above, it will last several days. Battery life is the thing I am most disappointed in- having had a 6230 since they first appeared and having that last well over a week without a charge, this takes a little adjusting to.
In terms of what it can do it is very impressive. The internet browser is particuarly good.
I like it a lot and it is not bulky or big at all- despite the pictures giving that impression.
Have another review- this one helped me: http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_n80-review-84.php
Oh- btw- I changed mine for a black case as soon as it arrived. Looks a thousand times better than the silver one.

Not had mine long, still getting used to it.
Looks good overall but slider is poor for a flagship £450 phone.
Have a look at http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum...splay.php?f=84
I seem to be having problems with loading the 2GB card in USB mode but it seems fine in PC Suite Mode?
The software list is growing and there is satnav software available allthough tomtom have not released a series three S60 version yet.
Cheers

As you say Lee I was not happy with the slider. No spring mechanism unlike the Samsung range.
Was pretty darn big as well but has all the bells and whistles. Ended up going for the new D900 in the end.

Crashes from time to time but does lots of things well. Great camera and looking forward to the satnav software. As others have mentioned the battery life isn't great, but then that's why I have a charger. Took this with it the other day.

My mate had one for about 3 weeks before he sold in on ebay, and he only got £210 for it. It crashes a lot and the battery life if poor ive been told. Its best feature is the MP3 and internet capability.

Sorry, but my N80 was a big pile of ****.
It's like a brick, the battery lasts less than a day (even with 3g turned off), it crashes a lot, 3rd gen Symbian software is thin on the ground, the camera is poor, I could go on and on.
It got better with the latest software revision, but I had given up on it by then really.
Currently using a K800i (about 6 weeks now) and loving it, good battery, great snaps, no crashes and holds a 3g signal better.

So, come uprgade time, what do I get, N70 at the moment and that ok but I have never really got on with it, quite happy to replace it, preffered the LG 8120 I had before.
Quite fancy a Samsung, anybody know what the difference is between the E900 and D900 ?

I have the N80, the other day I flashed it to the lastest firmware V4.*****. I sacked off he 02 firmware and put the genereic one on. Phone is much faster.
I hated the battery life and am hoping the new firmware has helped, its too early to say yet, seems better though.
All in al a good phone that will get btter with more software coming out and regular firmware updates.

I've never had good experiences with any of the Symbian phones, the O/S is slow, buggy and crashes a lot. Some people put up with it but I find it unacceptable especially when you are used to the older Nokia O/S which worked flawlessly and was fast. (hence the reason I now have Sony-Ericsson phones K750i and K800i)

You can get one from expansys.
The hot 'connected' device of the moment has to be the HTC TyTN (Hermes/Orange SPV M3100/O2 XDA Trion/Qtek 9600/Tmobile MDA Vario II/iMate JasJam).
It has a big screen, pull out QWERTY which turns the display to landscape.
3g, Wifi, Quad band, GPRS, EDGE (saw this working in the US - phenomenal - bring it on!!) BT 2.0.
2.1mp camera, two video cameras.
Win 5.0
Etc, etc.
Mine arrived this morning a couple of minutes after I left for work - doh - got it free from Orange as I complained it was only available to new customers. I have it on a 7day trial. Will give feedback. Expansys are currently selling several hundred a day at £489!!!
I currently have an ailing P910i and also got sick of waiting. I also believe that brilliant that the P990 looks, the screen is smaller, Symbian has been dumbed down, there is little software for it and my last three Sonys have simply not been robust enough in the long term (over six months old and they get very flaky!).
A couple of people said to me that the N80 was overpriced for what it is.

expansys are bloody expensive for the p990i, if you wait until 9th september they are only £134 on contract. but there is nothing to say that when that date comes around they are put back again !! plius i have heard as well that all software for the p910i isnt compatable so there will have to be all new stuff wrote for it or patches made for originals

Steve,
you are correct which is why I have moved away from the SE. I have pondered this for some time and by the weekend I will know whether the M3100 really can fill its boots and more. Loads more software, mobile office, synch, sat nav, you can run Powerpoint presentations from it, MP3.
I have not found anything that the Sony can do that the M3100 does not, with the additional form factor of a usable keyboard unlike that crap thumboard on the 910 which was really only good for impressing your mates.
Will post an update once I get home to pick it up tomorrow

Any update on the HTC TyTN yet in comparison to the P910i Rannoch?
I've been using my P910i for 18 months now but haven't upgraded as I've been waiting to check the P990 out. Now it's here though I'm not sure I'm going to go for it. How does the HTC TyTN size wise compared to the P910i?
I was considering the M600 for it's size but really want a camera if poss. Otherwise tempted to go for a K800i but worried I'd miss the features and touch screen of the P series.

The TyTN is almost identical in size to the P910i. Although because the Sony has scalloped edges the TyTN feels slightly bigger in the hand.
It has a slightly bigger screen than the 910, much bigger than the 990.
Played with it for about an hour last night and it looks really good. Not quite as 'sexy' as the Sony Ericsson, maybe HTC want to get some better industrial designers in next time. Very sleek though and so much functionality.
Also battery life promises to be FAR better than the Sony. Played with it an hour last night. it has been on since I got it yesterday evening and the battery life is showing 90%. My Sony would have used 40-50% of its power doing the same. You can also charge it via the USB cable which means not having to carry a separate charger with you if you use a laptop.
Will give another update once I have played with it more.

Jase,
Most people that are flashing there N80's at the minute either use illegal software (like me ) or take it to your local Carephone Warehouse (Wessex Gate Retail Park) and they will flash it for free if it's under warranty and unmolested with illegal software. They usually take a couple of days to do it, even though it only takes 5 minutes.
It is a better phone with the latest firmware, but it's still not a great phone imo.
I've just ordered the M3100 too, it will compliment my K800i nicely.
I now have one M5000 for sale.
