As sad as it is, it makes no sence?

What did she die of exactly.
She was in the water for an hour...... an average dive time!
At the surface if she had the reg in her mouth then she cant have drowned and the air supply would more than likely have lasted AT LEAST that time.
"wearing diving suits" says to me she was wearing thermal gear suitable for the conditions.
"pulled from the water" and says on page 2 she was floating so the BCD was working.
It was only 7-10 mts deep and was considered a safe dive site .

WTF went wrong

Sorry for the rant during such sad loss of freinds mate.

Fuzz, they were reported to be carrying breathing apparatus (sp) not wearing it. So basically it was the same as a group of walkers being swept off a pier....

Fair enough if they were carrying it but

Alex Mitrani, 32, of Northumberland Avenue, Gosforth, saw the women, wearing diving suits and canisters,
I read that as wearing them..
and if you're a diver and carrying cylinders. regs, other equipment like mask, snorkel, fins and torch, you will know the very best place for your cylinders is on your back and out of your hands as they are forking heavy.

Having looked at the pics on the second link I spy dry suits...
have you ever fallen in the water in a dry suit... it's like being in the dead sea, you just float.
Still doesn't make sence, but she's died and I'll shut up now.

Last time i dived there was feb 04 we walked across in 4 foot of water.Walking across in fins was very difficult, also the weight of the tanks on your back made it very difficult, getting bashed by the odd wave.If they were kitted up they would be ready for the dive ie; weights, fins, reg at the ready.

i can't comment on this situation, but if they were more experienced it might have been different.

I have a habit of jumping in without my bcd inflated so i can get down straight away. ahem, so jumping in without air on is not the best thing to do. experience helped me to remember to hold my breath, get my kit off, turn my air on, get buoyant! breathe! and then put my bcd back on. a good case for a buddy check, but i didn't panic and it was all fine. i felt a bit stoopid tho.

How can you make that statement, how do you know they were inexperienced??????? DID YOU KNOW THEM???????

Hexham sub aqua club has some very experienced divers who have dived all over the world with the club including the victims in this accident.

So lack of experience.......I THINK NOT.
