Satnav for cars - is bluetooth calling a gimmick ?
Just wondering whether I should get a portable car satnav WITH bluetooth or not
Seems a little gimmicky and I can't imagine the call quality is any good for the person you're calling, listening to all the background noise as you speak into the sh*tty microphone on the satnav unit.
So my question is, is it more gimmicky or actually useful ? I don't make a huge number of calls as I DESPISE mobile phones and RESENT that I can be contacted anywhere by anyone - but thats another story entirely.
I'd be interested to hear people's opinions of bluetooth for portable car satnav units (eg. TomTom, Garmin, etc...)

Got a TT700 and do use the bluetooth set up. As far as I can tell (and the caller on the other end) it responds no different to any other hands free blue tooth set up with regards to call quality.
Depends how much you use one, I use mine regularly and have no issues.

I'm using the Bluetooth on my TomTom Go 510 with a Sony Ericsson K750i. No problem at all. Very impressed with it actually as I have my phonebook downloaded onto the TomTom for ease of calling out. Only gripe I have is I have to enter password on my phone each time I get in the car to sync. with the TomTom.

I have a TT700 and a SE K750i phone, but when I recently upgraded the software on the Tomtom to the latest version, the speaker and the mic don't work !! I can still text using it, so I guess there's nothing wrong with the connection. Anyone else have this problem ?
