Two mobile phone questions
Well actually two questions about mobile phones.
My love affair with Sony Smartphones has finally ended. I have lived with the reality that they have a limited lifespan of 12-18 months at which point they become increasingly fragile.
My Sony P910i lost all my contact database today which is a bummer having spent the week in London building up some new contacts which I have now lost!!
It is now so far gone that I cannot reinstall it using the update service.
As there now is no Sony Smartphone available - the 990 is coming up to a year late on original delivery and shows no sign of appearing, I need to look elsewhere.
And where else can that be?
Has anyone here tried the Nokia N91 - it has a lot in common in terms of features? Is it easy to use, does it deliver what it says on the tin? I like the multi format music playback and a 4gb internal memory. It does seem quite heavy though?
How would an N80 compare?
Or should I go for a PDA style device?
This leads me to my second question. I am currently with Orange and it would seem I cannot pull my usual stunt to threaten to leave to get a free upgrade as they seemed to have dumbed down their range and have a very limited Smartphone supply.
So the question is - if I walk into CarphoneWhoreHouse on Saturday can I get my number transferred to Vodaphone, O2, 3 etc on the spot or do I have to wait four weeks like in the old days (not done this for years).
TIA
Rannoch

PS: maybe you did and hadn't had time to do this ... in which case this post is a waste of my time and yours ...
PPS: but I had to do it seen as how the BBS has been down for days and I've had to do some work ....

Dave,
I do synchronise all my contacts in Outlook. And on my trip to London I didn't have the opportunity to do this - hence having lost all me NEW contacts as I said above.
I agree with having one master which is why a smartphone appeals as it builds on this concept

I noticed that one of the computer mags this month (Computer Shopping was it?) has a Smart phones review. It may be worth your while popping into Smiths and checking out what they say.
Cheers

I just got a SE M600i, great size and feel, nice screen, bit unstable at first but after I updated the firmware works better.
No Camera though and does not run tom tom!
Got it on O2 contract (12 month) with 6 months half price!!
