mobile contracts up to 18month now...
is anyone else ar$ed off with this change to contracts from one year to 18 months (for vodafone at least)?
my phones don't last a year as, even though i do take care of them, i keep them in trouser pockets. i don't see why i should have to 'maintain' them by updating firmware/replacing batteries/etc.
got to wait until next july before i can upgrade and it p!sses me off.

ive just changed from voda to t-mobile on a 18 month contract
im not really bothered about the length of the contract cos i was on my last one for 7 years without moving.
plus i think t-mobiles service is much better than voda, in 7 years they never once rang me and offered an upgrade

Had a mobile via Carphone Warehouse, on Vodafone account.... could just pop in to Carphone warehouse for anything rather than dealing with the muppets at Vodafone......
Just found out that CPW have now handed management of Vodafone accounts back to Vodafone!!!! can't pop in to CPW anymore and have to speak to the muppets at Vodafone

Most Vodafone contracts have the option of 12 or 18 months. Again, for *most* 18 month contracts, the first 6 months is half price. The wife is just going to upgrade now so we've looked into this. Her problem s that as she spends so little she hasn't got that much bargaining power.
But you can understand the service providers wanting to do this as they then make more dosh from you stopping with them longer and not having to upgrade your phone so often for free. As always, caveat emptor, which in this case means understand what you're signing ....

The warrenty for phones is only 6 months from supllier then back to maker.
When mine went wrong SE quoted me 4-6 weeks to fix so therefore paying rental for this period with no phone! plus i have phone to use not wait while SE sort it out.

Im with voda and just took a new 18 month contract and was told warranty was valid for the entire period. My (ex) missus got a replacement under warranty after 14 months of her 18 months.

I upgraded this week to my spangly K800I with extra fantastic mammary card
Anyway, I was offered 12 or 18 month terms (I was last year too).. 18 month just seems to defer churn so they offer incentives to stay, however my phones take a battering so 12 months will doodle do for me...
If they had insisted on an 18month term I would have walked, sacrificing my 50% staff discount (as I used to work for them) in the process...
As it happens, the best phone on the market, on an appropriate tariff, on a 12 month deal for free

I'm thinking of getting a K800i seems to be the best there is. I hate having to decide as it's a 10 month commitment! No way am I making it 18 months!
