Musicians help needed, linking guitar and computer
Started a thread in comp section about a new soundcard for this but it looks like that may not feasable (simple patch cable)
Whats a cost effective way of linking my guitar and my comp? (about £100ish)
I can go internal on the PC or external for the Mac lappy.

I got one of these last year for £199:
It links directly into your computer via a usb cable and there's a free copy of Steinberg Cubase LE music production software, which allows you to multitrack guitars, add drum machines and vocals etc. The amp simulation of the unit is very good for direct injection, too - no need for amps or mics.

Bubba, what your opinion of this?
http://www.turnkey.co.uk/web/product...OX&context=WEB
Would it allow me to do what I want, I basically want to use my comp as an amp, plus maybe record a few bits.

I've got one of these - http://www.line6.com/guitarport/ some good sounds but it needs the rifftracker software to record your stuff.

Will be googling it later, just thought I'd see if anyone here has 1 or has atleast used 1.
I'm wondering if it will tie up with Garageband on the mac mmm.

Job dictates decent kit. Not just the teaching side, but my own production company, so I gotta do it
In all fairness, the 828 is an AMAZING bit of kit. I had the chance to put it through its paces with my new MacBook Pro this week. The whole system handled itself admirably.
Got 24 tracks of vocals tracked along with playing 16 tracks at the same time.
Impressive. Might even have to look at putting a new tower in the studio.

I got a Line 6 Pod and floorboard, and a Zoom Amp Simulator, plus a few Tascam DA 8 tracks, with a Soundscape Mixtreme and 24/8/2 mixing desk
Sometimes I use the Pod, sometimes I mic the amp up (one of them new Vox amps, very good I might add ) sometimes direct to Tascam, sometimes straight to Computer with the Line 6
Sometimes I will record both Amp mic'd & Line6 and use both tracks in the mix, to get a different sound
I do have a behringer (similar to the Line6 Pod), but its a Bass version, but it will do Elec Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Bass & Keyboards too, and it was only 50 quid too

Also got a Line 6 Pod. Had teh Behringer (same as Sonic - Bass version). I bought it for the college. It lasted about 12 mins!!!!
Great piece of kit (and cheap) but not student proof

If you want to do it on the cheap get a griffin imic then you just need an adapter to take your 1/4" jack to 1/8" or if you want something more elaborate I got an m-audio ozone, was £200 but they are about £100-£130 that will take a line-in and also has a mini keyboard, lots of midi controller ***** and xlr mic input too.
