Well I'll stick my neck out and say I'd actually like to do something like that, but yet again we pander to the needs of a minority.
As a tax payer etc. etc. etc. I'll never get the chance to do something that I think would really benefit me as a person, yet low life scum who's contributed nothing to society get to do something really good.
I fully accept that it's not everybodies cup of tea, in fact, I'm probably in a tiny minority, but it winds me up no end to see scum getting the opportunity of a life time for zero cost and I just carry on paying tax.
As a tax payer etc. etc. etc. I'll never get the chance to do something that I think would really benefit me as a person, yet low life scum who's contributed nothing to society get to do something really good.

Having been in the army I would say join the TA first, do basic training and drill nights, a few weekend exercises in summer and winter, then decide if you want to transfer to the regs after a few years. Going from an easy life to the regular army is not going to be easy.
Or you could join the RAF regiment, same stuff as the army but better conditions, accomodation food and women, there are some real munters in the army
