Default Driving in Norway!

Has anyone on here - drove up to Northern Norway???

Went here last year (Bergen) and loved the place - going to go a bit further afield this time around - how long does it take to get anywhere? as i understand limits are lower (and stricter) and finally has anyone camped in the self catering cabins that you can rent?

Cheers

I've not driven up to Northern Norway, but I do know that the drilling equipment, that my employer sends up to Hammerfest by truck, goes most of the way on Swedish roads. I dear say you could do it on Norwegian roads, but given the nature of the coast it would take at least a week.

Norway is a very long country. It is as far from Stavanger to Hammerfest as it is to Rome!

Speed limits are generally 80 kph out of town. If you are caught they will throw the book at you. And when they say 80 kph they mean 80 kph.

Don't be put off though. The scenary is fantastic, especially in the far north. The Lofoten Islands are like something out of Lord of the Rings.

Well i was hoping to make Bergen to Narvik or perhaps Tromso, as much as i'd liketo make Nordkapp i know there is no way i'll make that far.

I've heard the Lofoten islands are great - i might make that a stop over

Thanks for the reply
