Question Any TV Engineers out there?

Was just wondering if any TV Engineers or people with TV technical know how could give me a hand or point me in the right direction.

I have a 36" 100Hz Toshiba TV. The Picture started to shake on the screen and over time has got progressivly worse to the point where the picture will freeze or scroll through and sometimes just put the "snow effect" on the screen. When you have it selected on a channel that is not supplied with a signal it gives the normal blue screen but with s chess board effect over the top 2" or so of the screen.

I have been told it is a Frame relay board or chip that has gone by an ex-engineer but can not seem to find where to buy one or even a part number on the net.

Tosh say there isnt a part called that on there systems so was wondering if it could be either something else or called something else.

Many Thanks in advance for any help.

Steve

As it's a 100Hz TV the picture will be digitally processed before it's displayed on the screen. It sounds highly likely that something has gone wrong in this part of the telly especially with the chess board effect you describe on a blank screen.

Unfortunatley in this day and age you'll struggle to get it fixed cost effectively, everything is considered obsolete within a few years. Cheaper to buy a nice new flat panel than get it fixed I suspect

Cheers Graz,

Yea I have bought a Sony Bravia to replace it with already as I was due for a HD upgrade anyway

Was just asking as I was going to see if I could get the board and see what it would fetch on Ebay or similar
