Talking my first nurburgring experience

hi

well. people always rant and rave about the 'ring. i cannot put in to words how good it is. i now need it in my life.

not sure how fast people go round, we timed from the start barrier to the bridge, but there where cones for about 10 seconds after the barrier to keep you right then a right hand bend.

first lap, 10.55
second lap, 10.15
third and last lap, 9.58

i was going pretty quickly i think, i did want to beat clarksons 10 mins (9.59 i think?) so i was chuffed to bits to do a 9.58 after only 3 laps.

it is a mad place and traffic was a bit of a problem but still got round okay. not sure i could have gone any quicker anyhow.

the carrousel is brutal, just hanging on for dear life!

cannot recommend it enough

need sleep now, slept in a car last nite...

What were you in? If those are the correct times, then they're not bad, are they?

this was in a 997 Carrera S...with the top down and getting our brains blown about. it has the sport chrono pack so we could do the lap times.

A fast car... right. Karl used to do it in around 8:50 in the 130 bhp Golf, if memory serves. I'm sure someone will be around to correct me. Gary?

Still good for only a few laps' experience, though, I think.

FYI

Clarksons time was Bridge2Gantry (Large Concrete Bridge you go under quite near to the start 2 the metal Gantry on the final straight)

You did well to do a sub 10 minute lap time. The carousel is an experience for sure.

I like the bratwurst myself, and the Jagersnitzel.
