Question Court case, judge awards cost against defendant...

Does anyone know about this?

My dad took a case against somebody to court and won - in their absence. The judge granted costs against the defendant. Shortly afterward my dad received a bill from his solicitors for the court costs - Is this right?

How does costs against the defendant work???

Cheers

Mick

Presumably you'll need to pay your solicitors invoice before the payout comes through, and the payout will include the legal costs.
