Default oops my phone got wet whats chance or warentee repair?

not bothered about paying just thought id send it off first to try warentee repair?

phone v quickly was flashed into water then out again, does turn on and operates, however when calling it ends the call, if phone left standing its almost as if a button is being depressed as screen comes up with unlock first etc, to me seems like its operating a button every now and then, battery may also be knackerd not sure

its a d600 how much would it likely cost to be repaired?

My k700i got dropped in a bath (dont ask), I switched it off took it apart dried it off and it seemed ok, then the screen clouded up.
So I put it in the airing cupboard overnight and it's been fine ever since

Sorry mate but used to work for a Mobile Phone Repair Company (In I.T and not as a phone engineer). The phone will not be covered, as the engineer will open it up and identify the water damage which phone companies will not cover under their warrnty policies..

I used to work in a tech dept for a mobile phone co. Water ingress (technical term) will not be covered and it is easily spotted. Your biggest mistake was turning the phone on. Should have disconnected the battery and left to dry out for a day or 2 to minimize damage. Sometimes you can be lucky and it will work okay, othertimes well you know the score.
House insurance is probably your best bet as its not economical to repair a water damaged phone (probably be able to fix it, but you will find other components soon fizzle out)

yes if you had let the phone dry out for a while it may well have worked again normally.

Accidental cover shouldn't be cover for being 'dim and dishonest' however, which is usually the case I'd suspect in 75% of claims, pushing everyones policy premium up.

Not saying Pauly fits into the above but I wouldn't claim for dropping a mobile phone in the bath, certainly not twice!! He did also intimate that the stories were made up though too, just to get 2 replacements.

I'd have a word with myself in a quiet room instead.

My D500 has been put through the washing machine twice now and it's A ok.

Just take the phone apart and let it dry for at least 48hrs and it should be ok.

I accidentally dropped my D500 into water whilst half asleep. Although, I attempted to dry it out, it was never the same again. Our house insurance agreed to cover it, but as my contract was nearing the end, I hung onto it and then just got a new contract with a new phone

The excess was £50. A new d500 to replace it would have been £250+

STOP STOP !!!

Just grab yourself a bottle of de-ionised water from the local car shop and soak the phone in that. Then dry it out.

It's not the wter itself that does the damage, it's the crap that the water companies put in it. I've used this method a few times and can confirm that it works a treat

To be fair he is not far from the truth. Make sure you take out the battery sim card etc flush it through with de-ionised water (Ie pure water) leave in airing cuboard for 2 days.

Re-assemble and voila

De ionised water is a fantastic insulator, although once your screen is fecked thats it.

Having originally qualified as an electrician I can see some logic behind the de ionized water theory, but the crap the water would pick up off the phone would surely render that useless.
Imo you should ring them up, at the end of the day they are under pressure to keep subscribers and can be very flexible
