Well, any institution that sells you "special" number plates that need you to arrange the letters/numbers oddly to make them LOOK special, then prosecutes you and can take BACK the plate when you do it, HAS to be a bunch of scammers.

And it's ALL government sanctioned

I can't believe this. Surely this is against the data protection act! Or does that only apply when they can't make money out of it!

If there is a crooked twist to be found you will find it in the UK as you will always be shafted it seems, and here, proven.
We actually pay people to do this to us too.

Just under 160 private firms are authorised to get the information. These range from hire purchase companies, car park owners, clamping companies to credit companies like MBNA Europe.
That would be how MBNA got hold of my details and sending me junk mail for credit cards twice a week


Stopped several months after registering on the MPS though

I agree! This seems to be totally illegal according to the Data Protection Act!
