Anyone ever bought a mountain bike from abroad online ?
Hi All,
Has anyone ever bought a mountain bike from these :
http://www.bikesarea.com/
I was looking at a Specialized Rockhopper PRO for 499 EURO from this place.
Some of the UK retailers are charging £900 plus for this bike.
Cheers
Gary.

Seriously low prices, almost too good to be true, the Carbon fsr is half the uk price .
Warranty may only be honoured in country of origin, but your never really likely to need to with a S Rockhopper. May be some duty to pay also, but not sure as its within the eu.

I came across the website at the bottom of the scoobynet advertisers page. So it can't be too dodgy if they advertise on Scoobynet.
I am tempted to buy one. It's not like you are buying a car with a lot to lose if the warrranty goes **** up or you don't have one.
Cheers
Gary.

BigHit 1 is only 899eur !! (£640), know for a fact that bike is about £1050 in any UK dealer. Not sure what the inport duty would be (probably VAT + a little bit), but even with that I doubt it would break the £800 mark.
Would be interested if anyone gets abike from here, what's the service like ? delivery ? etc.. and dare I say are the products geniune ?

I wouldn't worry about the warranty, those bikes are pretty bomb proof. S don't offer a lifetime warranty without good reason. I've got a s-works epic and haven't had a single problem in 3 years racing and mainly rocky lakes trail riding.
If you go for it let us know how you get on.

AudiMan,
I agree with you. I was just wondering if they are Genuine as well.
I've looked on the specialized website and they are not an official dealer or supplier. I could be wrong. But you can't be too careful these days !!

As for the Ads - I don't think Scoobynet has much of a say in how the Google ads work. Maybe the mods will check it out

some of the stuff is very cheap.
One thing that rings alarm bells with me is the yahoo thing, nearly every scam on ebay or scam email is something to do with a yahoo address.
The Trek 9.8 2006 Carbon complete bike on there is £749! The frame alone is £1468 in USA (which has to be cheaper than here)
Something bit dodgy, plus it's free delivery too.
Too good to be true?
