What was the coolest car your dad had?
When I was 17 my old man got a BMW e30 325 Sport in red . Sounded like no other car on the road and at the time I thought it was fantastic.
Got a few "code brown" moments when i tried to drive it like my 1.3 escort though.

The car went to a bloke in Scotland who phoned him some years later saying he'd fully restored it and was driving it.
I do wonder now given the choice if he'd have swapped the car for the house and kid?!
oh and to add.... My dream is to be able to buy him one when he retires in a few years. Not a mint one but one he can work on as he is a greasemonkey at heart. I'm not in the position yet to be able to do that

Coolest to me at the time I guess was a new Ferrari 308GTB new in 1980, sold it in 1981 for more money than he paid for it too.
Others since have been cooler.

My Dad used to have a thing for Vauxhalls... the pinnacle of his motoring career in my opinion was a Carlton GSI. I can still remember all the numberplates, even when I was a kid I was a car nut

They were the days when you could thrash a car for pleasure.
Doing a 360 on a traffic roundabout in the wet in a 3 day old Lotus Sunbeam Talbot was a thrill!!

The best car I remember my dad having was a white 2.8i Supra when they came out followed by the 3.0i Supra when it came out. I also really liked the 1.8 turbo Nissan Silvia that my mum had and wish I could have all these 3 cars now that are low mileage in good nick examples but they just don't exist

If I remember, and I'm not sure of the order of the first few:
VW Camper van
Renault 4
Austin Maxi
MkIV Cortina Estate 1.6
Pug 205
in 30+ years.
Then along came the wildcard - Cobra kit with Ford V6 power!
And that came from ME buying and messing with a Dutton!
It got as far as being MOTd before being sold, only once ever driven on the public highway
Currently with a diesel Mondeo.
I'll join the list of posters who can safely say that he wasn't influenced by his father (hang on - I drive a diesel RAV4 - )

My dad had a E30 BMW M3 when I was a kid and we was based in Germany, I remember I didnt think it was special at all, just another BMW, its only now I wish he still had it, he also had a JPS Ford Capri in black with gold wheels which I believe I was conceived in(probably) Both LHD.
I remember the gear **** broke on the M3 and my dad took it to a BMW dealers in Germany, and the german bloke said "Ze gear **** in ze BMW should never break" and gave him one free of charge. He sold it to another soldier as he was in the army, and the bloke smashed it up a few days later.

My dad has always had Transits.
However my mum has had some cool stuff.
Some highlights include:
Mini Cooper S Mk2
Cortina 1600E
Granada Mk1 3.0 (in Sweeney bronze)
Datsun 240Z
Porsche 911E
Capri 3.0S
Chevette HS (homologation special twin cam)
Opel Monza Coupe
Escort RS2000 Mk2
Capri 2.8 Injection (now mine!!)
205 GTi 1.9 (she hated it!)
Sierra XR4x4
Sapphire RS Cosworth
Porsche 911 Carrera (anniversary model)
Lotus Elan SE (front engined one)
If Carlsberg did petrol headed mums... Got the pics of all, maybe I should post 'em up. Shame she's cancelled it all out now by owning a Cayenne, probably the most uncool car on the road.
