great acoustic tracks (Guitar)..?
Im looking at upping the set, I prefer to play acoustic guitar and am not averse to the folky acoustic sound.
Any great tracks out there to recommend (Chord progressions would be handy too if you have them)
cheers

Nice simple, happy tune to strum and sing to is Green Eyes by Coldplay.
A E Bm
Honey you are rock..
Bm
The Green eyes
D
Yeah the spotlight
A E
That shines upon you....
Repeat (with the diferent lyric)
Bm D
I came here with a load
A G
And it fels so much Lighhhhh...ter
Then, back to the prgression at the start and finishing on:
D
Without you
Probably better off looking it up. I did it from memory to kill a few moments. Warning Sign's nice and easy for a strum and a singlalong too.
Nick Drake's interesting and a little more challenging but rewarding if you can get him right.
Look up 'Only Living Boy in Ney York' too. Dead simple and fun to play if there's a few of you singing and you're feeling happy.
Cheers

I am always surprised by some of you on Snet.
I 'know' Peanuts and JTaylor through other threads, Carl in Scotland is a guitar man, and I wonder how many on here are too?
I have been playing guitart for 35 years now (I'm old, not good) with a small guitar collection.
Instead of learning to 'copy' other artists, why not dabble and compose you own progressions and 'party pieces'?
Tempted to start a thread to seek the guitarists (and basists too of course)
Must admit that I like guitars better than attempting to play them all..
If you want inspiration find CD's if you can by Eric Roach, just died very sadly, but I was lucky enough to see him play his Lowden at the Guitar Shows at the NEC.
Try getting the Taylor guitar demo cd's from their web site...mind blowing.
Pic of our favorite guitars?

This guy's got some good stuff. Someone posted this link up when looking for the Canon Rock sound track to the World Cup Advert.
Maybe worth a look for some Ideas .
His version of Canon Rock is worth a listen anyway.

It is the best thing to do.
Sometimes it is hard to be 'creative' but in trying different things you stumble on a 'lick' that sounds good and (for me) the fun is progressing that accuratly and so it sounds ok/half good etc.
My daughter has just graduated in pure music so I need to play in secret for fear of offending her ears!
This makes a change from 20g turbos!

Maybe you might enjoy reading this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0...books&v=glance
It's a book about a guy learning to play the guitar. I'm halfway through it and I haven't played a guitar since junior school - but I'm enoying it. It talks a lot about good tunes to try playing - and how.

my kids ( 15 & 17 years old) are self taught... they play chords... i think they both sound excellent!
they usually use ultimate guitar.com and print off the accoustic chords.
one of my faves that my 15 year old plays is Hotel Yorba by the White Stripes!
she's started practising Enter Sandman by metallica at the mo!
at present, we have an accoustic and a cheap electric guitar.

Try the following
Nick Drake - some tricky tunings but great musician
Mojave 3 - great band
Red House Painters - again, lots of different tunings but great stuff
Lloyd Cole - yup, he's still going and recent stuff is lovely.

u2 have some excellent acoustic stuff, they did a version of vertigo with a uke-banjo (temple bar mix?) and also a great "sometimes you cant make it", they are both on the 2 disc set of the vertigo album for anyone who wants it.
G, I dont have any pics of my guitars yet, but my favourite is an old spanish classical, my first guitar given to me by the F-I-law, the action is horrendous, the strings are a mix of steel, catgut and a couple of bass strings, its battered and looks icky.
But when I learnt to play that all other normal guitars became a doddle (even those ****ey electric ones )
Depeche mode do some great acoustic, try to get hold of Johhny Cash's versions for real simpleness.
I use:
ultimate-guitar.com
guitarnotes.com/tabs
azlyrics.com to rip off chords etc
