Question

A colleague has Win Me on her PC and it won't shut down. Its like it has a will to live!

When you go to start - shutdown, the computer switches off but immediately reboots. It even does this if you shutdown through the 3 finger salute. She has been turning it off at the mains and is getting fed up running scandisk all the time!

I still use win 95 so could anyone enlighten me?

Has it always done this with ME or has the fault developed?

I had a PC that would start-up if I switched on certain electrical items in the house, so try plugging it in differently i.e. in another room, or thru a plug bar or in another socket etc..

Question

Try this, click start then click run, type msconfig then ok. Next click on advanced look at the little boxes does DISABLE FAST SHUTDOWN have a tick in the box if not tick it then apply and ok, then it will ask you to shut down. If this does'nt work try the help section on the shutdown box.

Hope you get it sorted

I had this when I installed ME over Win98SE - never did end up figuring it out. It went away when I bought a new larger hard drive and installed everthing brand new. No problems with it ever since (well... relatively - it is a PC after all )

Cheers
