Default Tom Tom 910

Can anyone recommend somewhere to get this for a low price?

Or better still can anyone recommend a sat nav that offeres this much functionality for less?

Features I'm really interested in are.

Sat Nav - of course
Hands free phone

Thanks in advance

10% off @ pcworld

£20 off at currys online using a code (their online price is £488) then 5% cash back on top of that with egg money

btw - the 910 is pretty cool as it can read out street names

If its anything like the older versions, then remember they don't work very well in London. To many buildings for it to get a signal. When it does get a signal it always sends you via the busiest routes.

Maps are shockingly out of date (the second tunnel by Canary Wharf, A13, is STILL not included in my version - TT500 )

My one also tried to get me to turn off the M40 about 2 miles before the junction

All in all, the A - Z is only about 5 or 6 quid, thats what I use now

Cheers peeps,

No its not for london. Who in their right mind drives in London now? Not me.

I was driving to Selkirk (Scotland) on Monday. My colleague brought his along and compared to my AA.com paper route finder this was miles better. Basically I'm up and down the UK so this is indeed useful for me.

Any lower prices?

You could always go for the older 700 version, full western europe maps and handsfree. Someones probably got a new one kicking about somewhere considerably cheaper.

Great Link!

I've been looking at the older versions too but the additional functionality may become useful later down the line.

20 gig memory will hold my entire music collection for example.

Its probably me just wanting to stay ahead of everyone else but £500.00. YIKES

Have a look at this website: yourNAV.com (clicky)

Loads of info on there about all the TomTom range + others (Garmin, Navman etc.) especially if you click on the forum tab.

CLICK HERE for a Video review of the TT910. It is a dutch website but the guy doing the reveiw does it all in English.

Be careful with the 910 - it has a potential problem with the in-car mount where it switches off without warning/command.
Have a look here http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/module...viewforum&f=93 for further info.

Have a 910 myself and it has the same problem.

I need both UK and US maps...

Is there a TomTom that will let me do this -

1. Put a UK map on one memory chip
2. Put a US map on another memory chip

So I use the UK chip in the UK, etc...

If possible which size chip will I need for US map ?

Either the 500 or 710 has the same problem. When using one the other day it switched itself off several times.

I'd be keen to find out if they've fixed the problem with the mounting too as customers have complained about this also.

Word on the grapevine is that Tom Tom are working on a fix but no date at present - this is unofficial. The official word is that "you have not connected the unit to the car mount correctly" !!!!!!!!!!!!!

There have been some unofficial fixes which involve removing one of the rubber pads, re-soldering connections in the mount etc etc. Believe the bottom line is that the new car mounts for 710 & 910 have a design flaw.

Having said all that - when its working its the best !!!
