Default Quick IPod Nano Question

Can I just drag and drop MP3 files to the Nano to save me installing ITunes - the IPod is a pressie and I'm just putting a few tunes on before I give it to my daughter. Which folder should I drop them in and will it recognise the track name and artist and arrange accordingly?

No you cannot simply drag and drop songs onto the Nano, you will need to use iTunes.

And when your daughter gets her present, listens to your songs, installs iTunes and plugs her Nano in.... see other thread.

Don't worry Jack, read that one - she's only 10yrs old so she probably knows more about the Ipod than I do. Spent the last two hours trying to install Itunes - kept getting windows errors when it started - bloody Apple..

Does that add something that allows you to do this via Windows Explorer? I've never actually used it so don't know what it does.

My comment was from the viewpoint of not having to install any additional software. As far as I'm aware, in that state, there is no way to drag and drop files onto the iPod and then, and this is the key part, have the iPod actually be able to play the songs using it's interface.

Yes you could copy the music to the root of the iPod, but it would not know what to do with it due to the way it needs to file the music.
