Kengestion charge going up again
From the BBC - Anger at '£10 congestion charge'
...so it doubles in five years, and the size is getting bigger (to include Kensington and Chelsea), and bus fares are going up 10% next year as well.
Still, at least Crapita are making even more money

IMHO it is fair to have a 10 quid congestion charge if there is a good public transport AND it costs the punter commuting on it a pittance. But prices of public transport going up AND increasees in congestion charge? Lunacy.
When he was on the GLC didn't he have a transport policy called 'fares fair':
If he used a carrot instead of a stick then he might be getting somewhere morally and environmentally, he's not doing this.

Labour leader, Ken Livingstone, and his transport chair Dave Wetzel's 'Fares Fair' initiative helped them win the 1981 GLC election. They got straight to it, cutting all bus and underground fares by a third, using a small increase in the 'rates' tax of every householder in London to pay for it

Congestion charge, road charging, speed camera's... all apparently for environmental, congestion or saftey reasons - not just because they are very effective ways of raising revenue.
I use the tube all week long and it is a very unpleasent experience at times... they realise they have people backed into a corner with no option but to pay these ever increasing charges.
