Thinking about making the big move. Anyone done it on here. What's the story regarding car choice ? I heard that there isn't much choice and BM's and Merc's are a fortune!

Petrol is half the price we pay here! There are loads of scoobys in oz,but a lot more sports than turbos. The prices are just about the same.

98 RON is selling for a buck 45/litre or about 60p and in Perth there's BP Ultimate and that's it.

A brand new STI is $64k OTR (£26k approx), a regular WRX about $45k

I was out there at xmas, lots of scoobys out there and also monsters like this on the road.

Weird (and annoying) though that they should have even more strict rules on speeding than we do in the UK. It's a shame with all that space.

Lived in Sydney for 2 years - had a version 6 STi. Petrol's dirt cheap, but driving there just isn't much fun. The police are more obsessive about speeding than our lot. if you walk along the Paramatta Road there's shed loads of car dealerships and there's usually plenty of choice. Evos are pretty rare (loads of silly fakes), but Skylines and Imprezas are very common.

We were in melbourne and brisbane for a while, and i thought the driving was ok apart from *** heads under taking all the time! Why do you say its not much fun? I didnt see any speed cameras or feds with camera guns etc...

Quite an officious country when I was working there. You couldnt even walk the pavement for all kinds of signs warning you of potential fines for this and that. Shame they seem also to be on the speed revenue trip too - still cash is cash - and we all know it is not about minimising risk for kids outisde school, esp when it is a dirt road in the middle of absolutely bloody nowhere!

Load of Scoobs out here, Melbourne was the first place outside of Japan to have an official STi dealership. A new wrx can be had for $42k and Evo9's and STi's are all about $60k on roads.

As for the undertaking, it's quite legal out here.

In VIC and NSW yeah they're illegal to use/own. Dunno about the other states.
