Default Wife swap - Channel 4 last night

I was channel hopping and caught a bit of this..

Was I right in thinking that she acutally bought and allowed her children to drink alcohol?

Just checking cause as I said didnt really catch all of it. If she did, isnt that a criminal offence?

Not if its for consumption indoors. Although should the child come to harm due to over indulgence, then the parents are held responsible.

Its like the misconception that there is a law against leaving children of a certain age in the house on their own. There is no law, merely guidlines that state - should anything happen to them, it's your responsibility

What's wrong with allowing kids to drink alcohol - in moderation - at home?

When they are 9 and drinking it with their friends to have a good time rather than maybe a drink with a meal

And when it's not in moderation, as the parents can't moderate, due to being pished as peanuts themselves

At least they seem to learn something from the experience by the end of it

I remember my old grandfather letting me have 'sups' of guinness even tried a bit of whiskey when i was younger.

This seemed a bit different to me. I was under the impression that the alcopop in question (wkd?)was specifically bought for the kids for their party, and some of the measures they were pouring themselves was a bit much for children of 9 to be consuming.

Odd glass of wine with dinner for children is common on the continent, but even I'd say bottles of WKD for 9 year olds is a bit OTT.

That says more about british youth culture than anything else. Where my mother and father live in spain, all the kids drink wine with their meals and its cheaper than coke

Also, heard complaints about the young boy being hyperactive, no wonder he was with the food they allowed him to eat.

Drinking wine with a meal is a huge diffence to the way these kids had access to alcohol.

I'm just stating the law, not making moral judgements. I can't watch wife swap or any other program where parents can't look after their children, it makes me feel sick
