Its like smoking and alcoholism I suppose, we all know how dangerous it is but at a young age it never feels as though the fact that you are shortening your own life matters. We all want to live for the moment. It was a long time before I managed to stop smoking and its still a constant worry whether the effects will eventually catch up!
The changing of Cannabis to a class C drug was a dreadful mistake and sent entirely the wrong message to young people. Now it is known to be pretty dangerous after all, causing schizophrenia, the authorities seem to find it impossible to climb down from their earlier attempt to court popularity and to re-classify the drug. It is a shameful episode and shows just how little they care for the electorate.

Indeed, all these people who wrote the report that recommended the change obviously don't have a clue what they're talking about.

Send your CV in Leslie, I'm sure they'll be impressed by your experience.
For anyone interested in the state of the art of world research on alcohol, drugs and driving (quite unlikely on this board by now, I suspect - the Daily Mail is far more reliable ), you can do worse than look here: http://www.icadts.org/T2004/program.html . Warning - that's a couple of thousand pages of research...

No Top Banana, certainly not teetotal, in fact I make my own sloe gin to take fishing. I have however managed to avoid getting hooked on alcohol thank goodness, its just a matter of moderation of course, but I can see how easy it would be to become alcoholic.
The smoking bit was by following other's example at a time when smoking was not considered dangerous. At least there is no excuse now for not knowing that at least.
I did know that taking classified drugs was very bad for you and was never tempted to try it.
