Absolutely agreed. I have the Bose and it's everything I need it to be. Small, stylish, excellent quality, room-filling sound, good bass response (usually lacking in these small systems), remote control (basic though!). Would be nice to have extra inputs to allow a Laptop etc to be connected through a phono or 3.5mm jack and battery power option but I can live without that. 5 out of 5 stars from me! (The cost and lack of inputs and battery power is easily fogiven when you hear it!!)

Currently available from Apple store with a GREAT free Bose carry bag for travelling. Also readily available from Duty-Free at Heathrow terminals for £211 (without the bag - that's an Apple offer) so if you know anyone about to go on holiday...

Avoid the iPod Hi-Fi. I was VERY unimpressed with that having auditioned it. It's big, bulky, ugly, doesn't sound as good as they claim or as it's size belies, PLUS: given that you can power it with batteries, you'd be forgiven for thinking it was portable... It weighs 6kg! DEFINITELY a static-dock!! I couldn't even consider taking something that heavy on holiday! 2 out of 5 stars (I give it points for battery power (despite it being so heavy and impractical as a portable system) and for it's inputs)

Hope this helps!

If you are thinking about the Bose system, try the i-deck system as well. It's made by Monitor Audio, who know a thing or two about making speakers. IMHO it sounded a lot better than the Bose and it's cheaper (around £199).

I bought the "Inmotion" speakers by Altec Lansing. Good quality PLUS great portability when you travel a lot on business. Circa £100 although can be found for less in Duty Free and e bay etc.

Thanks Guys, knew I could rely on you. I've been looking at the Altec Lansing too. I know one of them I was looking at said it was even better than the Bose !
