A sensitive womans subject
Hi peeps,
Don't really know where to ask but I figured at least someone on here would know.
My G/f (Now bride to be ) has lost a tremendous amount of weight (gone from a size 30 to a size 14 in 18 months)
Problem is, she is now left with folds of skin on her stomach, arms and such.
Now as a suprise (is it a good idea girls) I am willing to pay the 5K to have her excess skin folds removed.
So the questions.
a) Is it a good idea, she has expressed this makes her unhappy
b) Is 5k the norm ?
Any advice/knowledge would be great

I think she has done extremely well. How did she do it?
If you think it will make her feel better about herself then go ahead and do it. I have no idea how much/what the procedure is, but I've seen it on TV and in magazines and the results are very good.

Clarebabes,
Well she started off with Slimming world but it didnt work for her, wheras WeightWatchers did and does. She used to drink ~3 Litres of full fat pop and 2 * McDs a day. Now its all salad and water and she is loving it So much so its affecting me, no saturday night snacks. She lost a LOT of weight and therefore *I* need to keep buying her new wardrobes (only downside lol) She also goes swimming/gym 5 times a week and on the days off we walk 5/6 miles as light exercise. She also used to drink a lot of alcohol, now its all diet coke !
Im planning on suprising her with it, because she cant really afford it. I just want her to be happy and this would be a nice pick me up

Like I said, she's done really well. Just be careful how you approach it so she doesn't think you find it unattractive and that's why you're wanting her to have the operation.
We're very sensitive and things could the other way than you expect

As for the operation, well it's not to be taken lightly but is the solution she requires to get rid of the excess skin.

I think the next time she complains about her extra skin, ask her what she would think if you offered to pay for its removal as you want her to be happy.
I agree with Clare, a surprise could go the wrong way (especially if you time it at the wrong part of the month).
I don't know about prices.

Great results - just as an aside Diet Coke contains a neurotoxin that causes the brain to want more food than we actually need. So cut that out as well to put the 'icing on the cake' so to speak of a fabulous success story.
The plastic surgery can have risks so paying top money for a good job is certainly worth it. There was a C5 programme on about it a couple of weeks ago for a woman who had gone from 40stone to 12 stone and she had lots of spare skin. She had some challenges with some of the work.

You will get loads of opinions there on procedures and natural ways of firming up the skin. Plenty of members lost weight similiar to that of your future pride.
Best of luck.

She has done fantastic and all priase to her. A big well done from me
Proceed with caution. You are going to have to wait for her to bring up the subject again. FGS do not ask her outright if she wants the op. When she mentions it, just say, you'd be happy to help her out if it's what she really wants and be prepared to go with her for support
Sorry, I know nothing about the cost, but it may be worth speaking to your GP for a referal Good luck to you both

Thanks for the info and well dones/congrats. She is still very shy about it but its good to see her loosing so much. She feels better and now does lots more than she did, hell we even go horse riding now!
Ill check out the ideas/links etc and broach the subject carefully. I can understand why, she is just fine as she is, in my eyes but i want her to be happy

I would congratulate the lass, but dont offer to pay for cosmetic surgery. No matter what she has achieved, she will only see that that you think she is still overweight. Just love her for how she is, and support her in the years to come. Trust me, she will thank you for it. Just my 2p worth(from a 'big bird')
ETA...us horsey folk are a different breed lol. If she needs a chat, pm me
