Question

Bit of a long shot, but who knows the power of ScoobyNet?

My folks have a Philips dishwasher that's gone phut! Repairs are estimated at near the £200 mark so I said it would be cheaper to get a new one. Stupid me - I get volunteered to find one!

Trouble is I can't seem to find one that fits their needs - or more specifically the slot in the unit they've got! Current one is a built in job (behind a door) that sits in a unit that's 500mm wide, 600mm deep and about 570mm high.

Any ideas of where I can find one? All the searches/phone calls I've made have either come up with small machines that sit on top of the worktop, or ones that are the right width/depth but too tall (folks want to keep the drawer above the current machine)!

All help/pointers appreciated!

Cheers,
Steve

I've bought a lot of kitchen stuff in the past year from www.trade-appliances.co.uk, but not through the web. I just found out the best price from a few internet type suppliers, and got them to price match it.

I think it may be cheaper (be the only option ?)to get the unit repaired if your parents don't want to part with the drawer above the existing unit. Removing this drawer would give you a choice of many different units.

John - yup, it's a small unit that sits inside the main part of a base unit and comes out on a sliding rack arrangement. Afraid I didn't explain that well.

Heights are:
Plinth = 150mm +
Main part of base unit = 570mm +
Top drawer of base unit = 140mm +
Worktop = 30mm

Overall height = 900mm (allowing for gaps between door, drawer & worktop)

I'll have to get the old man to look for a model number and try contacting Whirlpool (I think they took Philips over) direct.

Cheers for the link too - I'll see what they can come up with.
Cheers,
Steve
