Cool Depeche Mode - Wembley 3/4/6

Not everyones cup of tea but a band I have been into since day one, this was a long way from Hammersmith Odeon back in 81, Wembley has been refurbished and actually looks like a decent venue again, they've sorted the sound out and the stage has swapped ends, how chuffed was I, thinking I was 3/4 of the way back it turned out I was level with the front of the stage

A stunning 2 hours and 20 minute set and a full drum kit rather than the drum machine, and what a difference, the lad on the drums was different grade and the new sound system was quality, best Mode gig I've seen since the Heroin and Crack days of the Devotional tour, they had another guy doing all Gore synth work so he could concentrate on the guitars, coupled with the drummer it made a real difference, so much more power and feeling to the songs.
Gahan is still the showman strutting all over the stage, a great front man, always the entertainer, bonus was The Bravery were supporting.

Highlight of the night would have to be I Feel You, so improved with a full drum set incorporating two Bass drums.

I'll leave it there, no need for an Astraboy account

Quality gig

The UK leg finished last night. With the price of easyjet flights if you fancy a day out and a show in the evening you could travel to catch some of the european gigs. They've been selling out 50,000+ venues though so you may struggle to get a ticket.

I saw the Wireless posters last night, 25th June hyde Park, also playing that day Goldfrapp and Thomas Dolby, saw him at the Dominion Tct Rd, joint worst gig ever along with Bowie at Milton Keynes late 80's, he was off his chops, faell over after 3 songs and then sang, well tried too, the next 3 on his back and then pissed off after an hour !

Thumbs up

Went to see them for the Violator and Songs of Faith and Devotion tour at Wembley, then again when they played at Crystal Palace and off to the Wireless Festival at Hyde Park in June

A great band to see live, if any of you go I'll see you there!

A fortune but if it's for "the Mode" I don't care. £150.

for that you get...

Private entrance to the site
Backstage chill out area
private toilets
undercover facilities and garden seating
BBQ buffet
private var
club access pass

The link is kinda hidden within the WIRELESS web site. Try looking under tickets.

Any idea if it's going to be the full set or the usual "festival style" 1 hr 15 mins for the headliner or 30-40 mins non headliner??, pretty sure they're headlining though,apart from Glasto im not a massive fan of out door gigs especially if the wind is blowing, it just ***** with the sound unless your'e right down the front, the MK Bowl being a good example.

It's not like the old days, £3 a ticket for Hammy Odeon then hang around the stage door and get invited in !!, twice we made it backstage for DMode, once for Numan, I see he still knocking them out, just released a new studio album. What are the chances today for any band to let you back stage, zero probably...

Yeah I was invited backstage by Alison Moyet just after Yazoo split.

I'll let you know once the festivals start, but from what I understand it will be a similar set to last nights but with some "differences" I hope and pray that means 'photographic'. The Dave Gahan festivals in 2003 were full blown affairs.

Last time I saw them was the Faith & Devotion tour. Fantastic gig although IIRC my brother wasn't too pleased when someone pissed on his leg

Anyone listen to Alan Wilder's Recoil albums?

Took wifey to see them in Manchester last week. Quality performance yet again especially when you consider they are now well into their 40's

The Birmingham gig was amusing, Dave completely miscued and fecked up the timing (about 2 bars out), the song had to be stopped and re-started. Not easy for DM for obvious reasons

BTW saw the Faders video last night, she is hot... doesn't look a bit like her dad

Superb I'm gutted I missed them. The Crystal palace gig was awesome partly as Sisters of Mercy were backing !

Will check out the venues and will be booking soon.

If any of you like A-ha there playing in July at the same venue as the motor show and I heard a rumour if you buy a ticket for thr gig you get into the motorshow for free. Going to check it out

I've been a fan for a looooong time. I'm returning to the UK, but too late for the UK gigs

I might try to get to one of the European dates though Any idea what availability is like for the European gigs?

The forthcoming European gigs will be large festival type affairs. I assume that will be sold out pretty quick. The wireless festival in Hyde park still has tickets I believe.
