Connecting my new plasma to Sky box and DVD
Guys, need some advice as I'm fairly crap at this sort of thing these days- getting toooooo old
I just bought a new HD Panasonic plasma TH-42PX60B-CAB and the Panasonic SCHT880 cinema system- appreciate the sound system is not the best on the market but its within budget and will hopefully work from the same remote as the TV. I also have a sky+ box, and have ordered SkyHD whenever that may arrive.....
What's the best way to connect the Cinema/DVD and Sky box to the TV? Do I use scart, or component / phono lead thingys. Can't afford to spend daft money on the interconnects, so if someone could advise me of the best buys, ideally on ebay as I have a fair amount in my PayPal account, I'd appreciate it very much.
Thanks
Simon

Just a decent fully wired SCART lead with gold connectors, such as a Cambridge Audio one from Richer Sounds will do...
Go into the Picture Settings menu on your Sky box and set the Scart output to be RGB, then plug the other end of the cable into an RGB capable socket on your TV.
That's pretty much the best picture you'll get from a Sky box.
HTH?

What's HTH Josh? Just ordered a couple of Cambridge Audio scarts from Richer. What's the best way of getting the TV sound to the cinema system, so I can use the cinema speakers all the time rather than the TV speakers

Depends what you cinema system takes, chances are it will be optical, SKY+ has optical out (dunno about std) or use phono - the red and white cables

Actually - the best way to connect a DVD player to a plasma is with the component outputs (assuming you don't have HDMI)
This allows for progressive scan pictures (if your DVD supports this) when Scart does not.
