DVLA dont make me laugh
Thought id bee rally cool and tax my car online now i have a paper mot!!
yea right.
step 1 enter your 16 digit ref code on your V11
hmm no ref code....
plan 2
enter reg number (piece of ****) i,m rolling now
enter ref number off V5 (b*gger) cant find V5
no probs i thought, phone em up...
went through 6 billion (ok i embelished the facts) menus, to be told enter your 16 digit ref code, so i entered all maner of numbers, hoping that i would get transferred to an operator...
like **** !!!! it just keeps reminding you of you options and methods of payment (grrr)
so i hung up and spoke to a human (well if you can go that far)
now wait for the bulls*it excuses
the tax online scheme is a pilot, and not all v11's have the ref number on wtf!!!
ok so i gave her the reg number... fine. need your 16 digit yadda yadda
explined its not on the V11, ok she said use your V5,..i explained i cant find it....
oh well theres nothing we can do??
ermmmm what!!!
so how come they can issue you with a reminder, ( they have your registration & address) you can be fined for no tax, again this can be done without the 16 didgit ref number, but they cant find your car with a registration number and an address..
do you get the impression its jobsworth or a crap system??

Been discussed before. On the whole, nearly everyone who has used it has been very happy with it. Takes 5 minutes and delivered a few days later, great service. Clearly it doesn't work ALL the time, as you have found, but for most people it works well.

So you lost your V5 and its the DVLA's fault?
The only impression I get is that you wouldn't be able to read your V5 even if you hadn't moronically lost the ******* thing.

Very easy and the way forward. Apart form spending £175 it was painless.
It means I don't have to stand in line with Mrs Brady, old lady at the Post Office.

And your all so f*cking perfect....
not one of you cottoned on to the fact that they can pull your details up on screen, and the 16 digit ref number is bloody usless on its own, i didnt want any other details, just this number so i could tax the car...
prehaps if they had put the bloody information on the v11 as they were triumphantly proclaiming, then i wouldnt need the v5
and yes i have all the documentation, including the v5, just because i cant find it is immaterial.

Wouldn't allow me to use service!
Just tried to do this as i haven't received my reminder yet for my tax which runs out in 2 days time and it wouldn't accept it!
It said "because of the tax class of the vehicle or recent changes to the vehicle record, you are currently unable to apply for a tax disc or declare sorn using this service".
WTF!!
Anyone else had this. The vehicle is a scooby of course and my details haven't changed for ages.
