Wonder if that means re-test on reissue. If so then the scheme brings a big plus point with it!!

Thumbs up Well done the EU

In years gone by I have exchanged my GB licence for a Swiss licence, my Swiss licence for a GB one again and a GB one for a Dutch one. In the process I appear to have acquired some (ahem) additional driving entitlements.

Isn't the EU great?

Member states would have an option to include a microchip to store information about the driver.
Including convictions I assume?

This is just another step down the road that's leading to us all being given points for ANY motoring offence comitted in ANY country

They have to get the excess drivers off the roads somehow

Microchips are reasonably resilient, but if you, oh say accidentally drop a chisel on them followed by a large hammer, they do have a tendency to become defective
