Question chemist / prescription cost question

Right then, having been to the chemist today after a swift visit to the doc’s I find the lovely people next door (chemist) relieve me ()of £6.5 for one item and then inform me they haven’t got it and can i come back late tomorrow afternoon when they may have it !!!!!
And they only open at totally inconvenient (for me) times and they close at dinner !!! and they close early at night, and are closed on Saturday.

The times they operate are totally disjointed from the large doctors surgery next door.

So I begin to think this smacks of someone making heaps of cash and basically opening when they see fit not as the service is required.

Anyway the question is how much does the chemist receive from the prescription cost?
Do they get the retail value of each item on the prescription or a % of the overall prescription cost ?

I would envisage that a pharmacy is two businesses in one i.e. over the counter retail goods and then the business from prescriptions, does any one know how this works ?

Why not just go to Boots, drop your prescription off and have them deliver it to your home / place of work.

Think you can phone them up and they'll collect the script from the docs for you.

You need a different service provider for that, you can usually locate thier number in public phone boxes
