Default travelling to ireland, ferry or flying? any advice please

might have to go to ireland (tipperary/cork area) through work for a pointless trip there, meet someone, turn around and come home, want it done and dusted in the same day and trying to see what the best travelling option is.

has anyone any advice on this? maybe do something similar for work?

flying seems the best option for flexibilty of times/airport closer to home than a ferry port, but then i've got to sort a hire car, no biggie but something else to factor in.

any sites you guys can recomend? prices from skyscanner.net seem pretty cheap for the flights, but is there a site that will do parking at airport, flight fare and hire car all in or a combination of flight+hire car?

any advice appreciated.

Done both ferry and Flying and I would never go by Ferry again, You can fly from Luton/Stanstead, you could probably do Luton to Shannon in 50 minutes, and if you book early enough you can get a great price, try Ryanair.com for flights.

thanks mate will check out ryanair. would be going from gatwick or heathrow to cork, tracked down a return price, same day for £63. does this sound reasonable?

yeah, quickly going off the idea of the ferry!
might have been an option with taking some work bits, but that's looking unlikely now.

You used to be able to do Stansted direct to Cork.

You can get as cheap as GBP1.00 excluding taxes (return taxes are GBP38.85)... So a total of GBP40.85; But you'll need to book early!!!

Doubtful that you'd get such a low price for a one day return though!

Either way, definitely the quickest and (more than likely) cheapest way to do a one day return.

Fly Ryan Air, Stanstead to Cork, can be done as cheap as £8 each way. We've done it several times and its been fine.
